The Business Basics Grants Program provides support for small Queensland businesses to improve operations, enhance digital systems, and implement strategic marketing, with no co-contributions required. 

This is a great opportunity for small businesses to increase core skills and adopt best practice by accessing funding for professional services that support their business enhancement.

 

this grant will fund activities in these priority areas aimed at enhancing your business

1. professional business advice 

2. strategic marketing services

3. website builds/upgrades

  • Website build or upgrade [including website refresh] 
  • Adding eCommerce functionality, 
  • Developing new website content e.g. blogs, video 
  • Integrating third-party tools like CRMs, email marketing platforms or booking systems.

 

key eligibility criteria includes:

  • Having less than 5 employees [by head count] at the time of applying for the grant 
  • Have an active Australian Business Number  
  • Have headquarters in Queensland 
  • Have a minimum trading history of 1 year 
  • Have an annual turnover of $300,000 or less for the last financial year [2023/24]. 
  • Not have been approved for funding from an earlier Business Basics grant round. 
  • Not have owners/directors that are insolvent or an undischarged bankrupt. 

 

things to note

Successful applicants will receive an upfront payment of $7,500 [excluding GST]. The total cost of eligible activities must be at least $7,500, and the activities must be completed within 6 months of receiving approval.  

If your project costs exceed $7,500, you will need to cover the difference out of your own pocket, but there’s no limit on how much you can spend. 

As this is a competitive grant, we recommend submitting your ROI application as soon as possible to secure your spot.
 

the application process

The application process is split into two stages: 

  • Stage 1: Registration of Interest [ROI] will open at 9am on Monday 30 September 2024, and close at 5pm on Friday 11 October 2024. You must submit your ROI to be considered for Stage 2. 
  • Stage 2: Full Application will be by invitation only, and only selected businesses from Stage 1 will be asked to proceed.
