Centenary Landscaping Supplies [CLS] is a multi-award winning landscape supplier located in the western suburbs of Brisbane. For over 30 years, CLS has been a leading supplier of quality landscaping products and services to homeowners and commercial trade teams across the greater Brisbane region.
The team at CLS first became an advisory and coaching client of businessDEPOT before they asked for introductions to members of our accounting, marketing and legal teams.
The original relationship with CLS was via Advisory services provided to one of the key members of the CLS team. The relationship between the coach and this individual meant that businessDEPOT was front of mind when the need arose to make more substantial changes to the business.

The directors of CLS had succession on their mind and knew that the legal structure that had served them well for the last umpteen years may not be the best for them into the future.
Our specialist business valuers, tax guru’s and accountants worked together to recommend and implement a business structure that planned for the future while respected the past.
After completion of the restructure we were lucky enough to be asked to provide a proposal to attend to the accounting and compliance needs of the groups. We now work closely with their virtual CFO to ensure all deadlines are met, tax minimised and meaningful numbers are produced for decision-making purposes.
Due to the heavy workload of the sales and marketing manager at CLS, the client requested an introduction to the businessDEPOT Marketing team to help develop a strategy that would streamline their marketing processes, focus their marketing energy where it should be focussed, and maximise their productivity.
They engaged the team at businessDEPOT Marketing to develop a tailored marketing strategy to systemise their marketing approach. The bD Marketing and CLS management team gathered for a full day strategy session. Firstly, this session focused on refining their brand position, brand identity including language and tone. We also did a deep dive into the ideal customers of the brand by developing their marketing buyer personas. Following the buyer persona exercise, we were able to identify some key marketing channels and messages that will resonate and attract aligned buyers to the business.
This session provided some clarity on the best approach moving forward in their marketing efforts.
ONGOING MARKETING SUPPORT
The CLS team engaged businessDEPOT Marketing to provide ongoing services on a monthly basis. These services include graphic design, social media, content marketing, video marketing, website design, and strategic marketing advice.
As part of the ongoing monthly marketing services, CLS engaged us to design all the print and digital collateral for their premium soil range, Ultra Grow. This included assets such as product guides, brochures, website assets and infographics.
The CLS team called upon businessDEPOT Marketing to assist in web design for their existing website. The objective was to update the look and feel as well as improve on the user experience across the entire website.
Legal assisted CLS with undertaking a restructure of its trucking business from a discretionary trust into a separate proprietary company, and in documenting intercompany lease arrangements to facilitate the ongoing sharing of resources between members of the CLS group. We also worked with CLS to improve and update both their customer-facing and supplier-facing terms of engagement documents and associated practises.
We initially engaged with businessDEPOT through their Accounting Team after we realised we were getting little from the large ‘traditional’ accountants. John Knight and his team helped us restructure our company for succession and future tax planning. This dovetailed with their Legal Team who prepared the complex documents and walked us through the issues involved. As a result, businessDEPOT is now our consulting accounting and legal firm while we also engage with their switched-on Marketing Team. A truly professional One-Stop Business Place for all those important aspects of our growing group of companies.
Convenience but not a necessity
It is important to note that although this client saw value in utilising more than one of our services, many clients work solely with one division. All introductions to other divisions have been at the request of the client for their convenience, not as a result of us pushing them in that direction.
