A few weeks ago we launched PROJECT ‘it’ – an 8 step cycle to help you make ‘it’ happen within your business. As we touched on in Step 1, your ‘it’ doesn’t have to be a big bold business model, it could simply be an idea or small change you need to make to get the active growth you’re desiring.
In step 2 we shared with you some tips to help you answer the question, “Why do you want ‘it’?” This step is all about taking a deeper dive into your business, and taking some time for internal reflection.
Now, let’s move onto Step 3 of PROJECT ‘it’ … “Are you ready for ‘it’?” Is your business ready for the change?
Being change ready is a critical step in the process – it can be the difference between success and failure of your strategy.
[These tips come to you courtesy of research undertaken by Dr Chris Mason of Mindshop]
The last thing you need when implementing a new strategy is a leader within the business undermining the process. You need all leaders behind your ‘it’ 100% - both in mind and body.
You need to determine if the people behind your business believe in the change you need to make to achieve your ‘it’. Engage with your team and collaborate to ensure change is required.
Do the individuals involved in the change process agree that the methodology used to determine the required change is appropriate? Remember, you’ve spent countless hours putting together how you are going to implement the proposed changes. This may mean you are convinced of the effectiveness of the methodology but what do your staff and management team think.
Determine if you and your team have the confidence in their abilities to follow the processes needed to bring your ‘it’ forward and to make ‘it’ happen. Some people don’t like change so you need to inject confidence in your team to show them you have the capability and capacity to make your ‘it’ happen.
Every business needs a What’s In It For Me … So if the change is effective, will it benefit each and every person involved in implementing the change? Highlight individual benefits to your team as well as the benefits of the overall business.

Asking and answering these 5 simple questions will enable you to answer the overall question ... “Are you ready for ‘it’?”, and prepare you and your team for the change that needs to be made within your business to make ‘it’ happen.
The next step in PROJECT ‘it’ is Step 4 – Do you really want ‘it’?. In this step we’ll share with you some tools and tips to help validate your business model, concept or idea before moving into exploring the tools available to make ‘it’ happen.
